Much easier to care for as it tends not to rust as easily and is a low maintenance blade.
The steel is reasonable soft so the edge can’t be too refined as it simply will dull very quickly.
It’s primarily used for heavy duty chopping of tough materials, it is perfect for this.
The blade is thick almost the entire length with no taper.
Not too sure if the holes actually to anything or just decoration.
Very quick to sharpen.
I doubt it is anywhere near 58HRC, more like 54HRC at best.

It’s a shame that ours arrived dirty. There was white dust all over the handle and grease over the blade.
The box is cardboard inside which seems a shame as the actual box is higher quality, but at least it has a durable leather sheath to protect the blade.
It seems nice and sharp and cuts though meat perfectly fine.

First impressions are of a hefty quality knife and leather sheath in a nice black giftable cardboard box. The knife weighed in at 633gms (approx. 1½lb) on my kitchen scales.
As a test to its strength, I decided to cut a leg of lamb into 2 portions. A whole leg is way too much for us, but as it’s currently half price I couldn’t refuse the offer. Cutting through the meat to the bone was a doddle, the sharp blade slicing through easily. Next came the bone. I’ve damaged the cutting edge of knives before on bones, but a couple of heavy chops with this knife and I was through, and the cutting edge is still in perfect condition. The first chop I was a little hesitant with but gave it my all on the second attempt. Obviously, when chopping through bone, keep you other hand well out of the way.
Whether or not the 3 holes really do help with shock absorption is impossible to test without another knife missing the holes to compare it too.
I really like the feel of the weight in my hand, its heavy but not too heavy. The wooden handle is comfortable, smooth and feels well made. Overall, this looks and feels like a quality product which I can thoroughly recommend.
